  1. Erin Anderssen’s article makes a compelling case for quotas but it’s a solution with too many downsides.

    As the article notes the quotas don’t help rank and file women progress and what I’ve recently advocated on my article on this topic on Linkedin is organizations changing their recruitment models where it is required that there be qualified candidates with gender balance for all positions starting at the lowest supervisory ranks.

    This works as long as it is an organization policy that is adhered to but it has to be a widespread practice in all organizations.

    Here is where HR must re-tool themselves and their protocols.

    If you just set quotas you risk force fitting hires into roles to fail.
